One Man's Quest to Save the Holy Yamuna River

Sureshwar Sinha, 83, swam​ ​in the ​pristine waters of the​​ Yamuna in New Delhi​ ​when​ he was a child. ​He has spent the past 25 years ​fighting to rescue ​the polluted river.

Karan Deep Singh produced, filmed and edited this piece during a time when Mr. Sinha’s health was gradually deteriorating. He passed away at the age of 88 on September 8, 2022. The piece was part of a multimedia immersive project titled ‘The World’s Next Environmental Disaster’ that received an Honorable Mention from the Society of Publishers in Asia for Excellence in Environmental Reporting in 2018. Mr. Singh was the lead producer on the project.
